Maintenance Technician 20D
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Field Operations Technician is responsible for the overall operation of field gathering systems and / or pipeline systems associated with the transportation of natural gas, NGL, and condensate. Systems typically include Field Compressor Stations, Field Dehydration Facilities, Field Condensate Separation and Storage, Field Utility Generation Facilities, Gas and Liquid Measurement, and other related processes and equipment.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Assist pigging operations as needed along with proper documentation and procedures
- Estimate and/ or calculate flow rates and total volumes
- Learn to fill out applicable work/hot work permits, lockout/tagout documentation, attend and participate in tailgate sessions with others involved in work site activities
- Manage inventory at assigned sites regarding: Glycol, Methanol, NGL’s, Produced Water
- Monitor pipeline conditions and recognizes flow restrictions in gas systems and take appropriate actions
- Obtain data from electronic flow measurement (EFM) devices
- Obtain gas and liquid analysis for testing
- Participates in preparation of field operating procedures and the training of co-workers in a safe and efficient operation practices
- Perform minor repairs and assist with major repairs on compression and related equipment
- Perform pipeline locates and monitor work of contractors and pipeline companies working around company pipelines and right-of-ways
- Perform routine and emergency startup/shutdown of all field equipment
- Perform routine shutdowns and startup of equipment and perform emergency procedures when required
- Responsible for pipeline maintenance and monitoring including protection, corrosion monitoring, pipeline pigging, pressure maintenance, loss gas, line repairs, etc.
- Responsible for starting and stopping of all station equipment, Dehydration operations and maintenance, and Maximize field compression efficiently
- Technician will also be required to perform certain PSM functions and activities.
- Testing for O2 and H2S levels in gas streams
- This person will have basic understanding of PLC’s and their functions, flow and temperatures and BTEX units.
- Regular and reliable attendance is required
WORK CONDITIONS:
- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions
- Ability to frequently throughout the work shift, push, pull and lift at least a minimum of 50lbs to a minimum height of 3-4 feet and maneuver equipment or parts as needed
- Ability to work outdoors in changing climate conditions
- Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
- Ability to climb up and down ladders, stairs and platforms at varying heights
- Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex)
- We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing
- This role is subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Targa policy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):
1. Education & License:
- Minimum High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company
- Associates degree in Mechanical Maintenance technology from an accredited technical school (preferred)
2. Experience:
- Minimum 1-3 years related work experience required
3. Skills/Competencies:
- Must have a mechanical aptitude
- Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors
- An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources
- Well-grounded, preferring to work in a collegial and team environment
- Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise excellent judgment and common sense
- Intermediate computer skills (Proficiency in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
4. Preferred Qualifications:
- Has a good understanding of utilizing horsepower and compression.
- Has a good understanding of pipeline operations
- Previous Field Technician experience
- Previous experience with corporate initiatives (GIS, Maximo, E-Procurement, etc.)
- Knowledge of and ability to utilize departmental budget and financial information to optimize operations (OPEX & CAPEX)
- Basic job related computer knowledge (WIN CCU, etc.)
