Inspector Construction
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Construction Inspector is responsible for providing inspection for plants, stations and pipelines as required to ensure construction quality is acceptable according to company procedures and industry. This person is also responsible for providing construction support while working with engineering, construction, operations and third parties as required to assist in design, estimating, and scheduling and to assure operational fit and constructability through on-site field investigations, planning and meetings with appropriate parties.
KNOWLEDGE:
The Construction Inspector will gain knowledge in company construction specifications/requirements and industry codes and regulations, with a significant amount of experience in construction and construction management of pipelines, compressor stations, processing plants, and measurement facilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Act as a liaison between Operations & Engineering and the Company’s construction worksite
- Additional responsibilities include coordination of pipeline routing, surveying activities, involvement in contractor selection process, and assisting with process/procedure optimization initiatives
- Assist in overseeing multiple construction inspection crews to ensure compliance with API, ASME, FERC, OSHA, PHMSA, SSCGP, regulations, standards, policies and procedures
- Attend safety meetings and work safely
- Communicate effectively and professionally with all parties
- Ensure the jobs are properly documented through the completion of job specific documents and forms
- Inspect the construction work to ensure it is performed according to the job specific requirements
- Maintain relationships with local regulators
- Manage construction forms and company processes, job safety evaluations, and maintain inspection and construction records for the company in accordance with company requirements
- Monitor and certify that the work is performed in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations and in accordance with contract terms, drawings, and specifications
- Monitor and inspect: right-of-way clearing and grading; pipeline trenching and excavation; pipe stringing; pipe bending; pipe coating; pipe lowering; padding and backfilling; road boring; pipeline tie-ins; erosion and sedimentation control; right-of-way clean-up and re-vegetation; minor welding and electrical inspection Travel to areas within region where work is active
- Plan and perform all assignments in a safe manner
- Prepare documentation as required for Company and Regulatory purposes
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):
- Education & License:
- Associate’s college degree (preferred)
- Maintain a valid driver’s license to include a safe driving record satisfactory to the company
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum Experience:
- 1 to 3 years of related experience and/or training
- Skills/Competencies:
- Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors
- Strong work ethic with demonstrated ability to effectively work with minimum supervision
- Solid computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software
- Self-motivated, ability to work independently
- Effective organization, time-management and project planning skills
- Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of pipeline and plant codes and industry standards, including ASME B31.3, ASME B31.8, DOT 192, ASME IX, and API 1104
- Basic experience and knowledge of construction practices and pertinent industry construction standards, Company’s construction specifications, and environmental requirements, and experience working/reading technical drawings
- Ability to read and understand technical documents such as Process and Instrument Diagrams, Process Flow Diagrams, easements, leases, licenses, etc.
- Familiarity with Process Safety Management Facilities; Management of Change Process; Environmental, Health, and Safety and OSHA Guidelines and Practices
- Experience with pipeline operations.
- Ability to appropriately analyze invoices for accuracy and reasonableness
- Ability to project and track project costs

- Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions
