POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Transport Driver operates a variety of makes, models, and sizes of tractor/tank truck combinations, and all, pumping, and other mechanical devices related or incidental to transporting, loading and unloading products, materials, and equipment. This person also performs truck safety inspections, verification of product lading, and preparation of operational and DOT forms and records. 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Carries out scheduled deliveries by routing as specified by Targa Transport dispatchers.  Adheres to all company and DOT safety policies and procedures
  • Complete special projects / duties as assigned
  • Determines, by personal inspections in accordance with criteria specified by Targa Transports, that vehicles are in a safe operating condition before leaving company facility
  • Loads/unloads, or assists in loading/unloading transports, with the aid of mechanical devices, in accordance with approved procedures and current instructions
  • Perform product testing and shakeout as required on each load
  • The Transport Driver will be driving day cabs and will be slip seating on a 24 hour basis
  • This person is required to provide / assist with the training of new drivers and retraining those drivers who are returning to work after extended leave
  • This person may be assigned on a short-term basis to other Targa Transport locations or work sites
  • Utilizes ELD for daily logging and dispatch   
  • Knowledge of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Hazardous Material Shipping Documentation
  • Regular and reliable attendance

WORK CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions
  • Ability to frequently throughout the work shift,  push, pull and lift at least a minimum of 50lbs  to a minimum height of  3-4 feet and maneuver equipment or parts as needed
  • Ability to work outdoors in changing climate conditions
  • Able to work in close quarters: i.e., work while kneeling, squatting, sitting, climbing, and standing
  • Ability to climb up and down ladders, stairs and platforms at varying heights
  • Follow and adhere to all applicable Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines (ex: eye protection, footwear, Nomex)
  • Required to perform call-out rotation
  • Willing to travel to various locations for job tasks
  • We maintain a drug-free workplace and perform pre-employment substance abuse testing
  • This role is subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Targa policy

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):

1. Education & License:  
  • Requires a valid, current Class A commercial driver’s license with Hazardous Materials and Tank endorsements
  • Must meet all requirements for drivers as set forth in Part 391-Qualification of Drivers of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations           
2. Experience:  
  • Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience driving with chemical and/or fuel tank trailers
3. Skills/Competencies:
  • Requires demonstrated communications, interpersonal, and teamwork skills necessary to work safely and effectively with customers and Targa employees
  • Requires physical and mental ability to operate a tractor / trailer and all associated equipment
  • Experience with preventive maintenance procedures necessary to perform routine DOT inspections for tractors and trailers
  • Demonstrate knowledge, skills, abilities and the desire to handle materials safely, while driving, loading and unloading 
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Over the Road (OTR) or regional experience
  • Must possess an excellent driving/safety record
  • Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors
  • An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic
  • Ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources
  • Well-grounded, preferring to work in a collegial and team environment
  • Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise excellent judgment and common sense
