Area Engineer
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Area Engineer is responsible for providing technical support in a variety of capacities including but not limited to pipeline and process engineering, project management, construction management, business and operations technical support for gas plants, gathering systems, plant startups and troubleshooting. This person also implements maintenance, repair, and construction of projects and monitors performance of preventive maintenance of equipment.
- Size and specify equipment and materials to meet design requirements
- Design pipelines, meter stations, compressor stations, pump stations and components within processing facilities
- Develop treating and process simulations and models and review against operating conditions
- Generate AFEs
- Model and evaluate gathering systems, including field compression and suggest efficiency and debottlenecking projects
- Model processing units to include cryogenic gas plants and LPG fractionators
- Proactively seek opportunities to learn and develop and to find solutions for maximizing value to the business unit
- Provide cost estimating for projects
- Provide project management on assigned capital projects
- Size and rate plant process and compressor equipment and materials to meet design requirements
- Suggest optimization projects to enhance process recoveries and efficiencies
- Assure all Targa design and construction standards are met and followed
- Assure State, Federal and Targa regulations and policies in Safety and Environmental areas are adhered to within area of responsibility
- Must possess fundamental knowledge of midstream gas processing, gathering assets and design considerations
- Must have a knowledge of codes, standards, and regulations related to midstream business (inclusive of B31.3, B31.8, DOT 192, DOT 195, NFPA, and others as required.)
- Regular and reliable attendance is required
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):
Minimum BS degree in Engineering from a 4-year accredited University
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in either natural gas gathering, compression, processing, fractionation, construction or field operations
- 1 year of experience in project engineering, project management or related work experience such as internships
- Experience in either natural gas gathering, compression, processing, fractionation, construction or field operations
- 3 years of experience in project engineering, project management or related work experience such as internships
- Experience in applications such as HYSYS, PROMAX, WinSim, WinFlow, FlareNet
- Experience with acid gas handling and process equipment
- Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office Products
- Process simulation and pipeline modeling experience with HYSYS, PROMAX, WinSim, WinFlow, Synergee, FlareNet, or similar applications
Interpersonal communication skills are required in order to interface with all affected teams, personnel, and vendors
An organized and detail-oriented self-starter with a strong work ethic
Ability to work self-sufficiently given direction and resources
Well-grounded, preferring to work in a collegial and team environment
Ability to think critically, solve problems independently and exercise excellent judgment and common sense
Intermediate computer skills (Proficiency in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
