Accounting Analyst, Senior
Job Responsibilities
• Independently execute the Settlement / Invoicing process for Targa Gas Marketing’s (“TGM’s”) 3rd Party Natural Gas purchase and sales activity including: generating invoices out of Allegro, distributing invoices to customers and managing all customer correspondence
• Ensure that transaction level data in Allegro matches 3rd party invoices and statements confirming monthly net settlements with each customer
• Resolve discrepancies by communicating necessary changes with scheduling, commercial (i.e. marketing/trading), or customer as appropriate
• Perform monthly settlement duties including preparation of wire/payment requests, coordinating approvals, booking revenue and cost of sales entries into OFC, paying broker fees, and monitoring incoming wires
• Book manual monthly accounting entries including: Transportation estimates, Gas plant processing revenue, and inventory
• Perform monthly accounting duties including:
o Calculation of required prepayment and deferred revenue
o Calculation of pipeline imbalances
o Calculation of monthly transportation estimates
• Reconcile gas marketing system to general ledger and research and resolve any discrepancies
• Reconcile general ledger to estimated business results and research and resolve any discrepancies
• Responsible for monthly controls and reporting including: Cash forecast, documenting settlement confirmations for sox and revenue audits, monitoring and explaining outstanding AR and balance sheet items
• Responsible for complex quarterly reporting including: Top 10 Sales and Purchase customer reports, related party activity, Tax - Sales by State reports
• Responsible for organizing settlement and control documentation and uploading the appropriate data onto each of TGMs three SharePoint sites
• Responsible for providing documentation for audit requests
Minimum Essential Qualifications
• Targa will consider individuals with three plus (3+) years of gas marketing accounting experience;
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting;
• Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to listen carefully and use clear, concise oral and written skills to convey facts and present positions;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Can grasp complex business problems and formulate solutions
• Strong accounting skills to independently analyze situations and determine appropriate treatment and associated entries
• Initiative and leadership in unstructured work environments, handling multiple job responsibilities, setting priorities, maintaining a high level of accomplishment, and implementing improvements to processes;
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external customers;
• Strong systems aptitude and process orientation.
• Exposure to computer systems and related skills, including prior use of Microsoft Office Suite;
• Thrives in a fast paced, dynamic, high-performance culture with the ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments;
• Available to work required overtime during critical periods, including month end close.
